BIO

Kelly Hyde's lyrics are clever, uplifting, and comical, bringing awareness and at the same time making light of the human situation. Her music covers an array of folk, island, singer-songwriter, and her own special flavor. Her lyrics speak to the separation between the modern and natural world, and the irony inbetween.  Her songs are full of food for thought, and her melodies are soothing and creative. Listeners may feel inclined to laugh or be brought to tears.

Kelly grew up in two unique places. The small river town of Callicoon, New York, and the tiny island of Key Largo in South Florida.   Exposed to many genres at a young age, Kelly’s parents were music lovers. Her first memory is bobbing up and down on the floor of the kitchen to Simon and Garfunkel’s “Cecilia”. Paul Simon, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Talking heads, and Peter Tosh were often in the background during her youth.  Kelly's mother taught her  to operate the turn tables and listen to records  at a young age and put her in piano and trumpet lessons. Her father was local legend Ted Hyde ( Grateful Ted) whom she watched perform through the course of her life in Key Largo.

Often performing as a solo artist, Kelly is occasionally accompanied by Joey Valentine on the Guitar, Bass, and vocals. She has opened up for artists such as Nahko and Medicine for the People, Tubby Love and Amber Lily, Paula Fuga, Pato Banton , and Chris Barren and the Time Bandits, and is often seen collaborating with the talented Ydine.

Since releasing her first full-length album with Grammy-award winning producer Charles Brotman in 2018, She has released 3 singles. Her original song "Little Lucky" caught the ear of Australia's Bobby Alu and they released a featured version and video together in 2021. That same year, she was honored to collaborate with the one and only "Bluegrass Boy" Peter Rowan on a cover of John Anderson's song "Seminole Wind".

Kelly has been seen performing from intimate house concerts to larger stages like Hawaii's Aina Festival and Manafest, Minnesota's Harmony Park festivals, and Oregon Country Fair.

Placing 3rd in Hawaii's Songwriting Competition in 2018, Kelly caught the attention of the judges with when she showcased her unique and poignant songwriting style with her song "Head on".
